I realize that this is incredibly random and you have no idea who I am, but I found your blog accidentally on google. Anyways, I was thinking about moving into Hostal Claudio Arrau and I wanted to ask what your take on it was...did you like it? Are there many people who live there semi-permanently or are people constantly checking in and out? Any info you could give me would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much.
Hahha, Hi! well let's see. it's been a while since i was there. It really depends on what you want and how long you'll be there for. Most people who live there stay at least half a year, its semi permanent, some chileans who had been there for 4 years. everyone is really nice. marisol y jorge are the owners of the house and also live there, they are fun and have asados and like everyone and hang out and let you throw parties and have big dinners and use the house as if it were yours but they also live their lives there. so its a low level amount of 'homestay' type thing. there's a communal kitchen, everyone has a shelf, a space in the refrigerator, etc. its a little divey aesthetically but its not terrible. its a kind of nice way to meet people randomly, have some sort of social life if you are going there alone, but if you have the option i would try to get an apartment with chileans (harder said than done i know). also sometimes there were problems with having guests sleep over, they wanted them to pay for the night. nice vibe, nice people, they are used to foreigners but don't speak to you in english so it's not actually touristy or anything and its walking distance to a lot of places and right on the metro line. ok, hope that helps. suerte...
